Welcome to drumnut

My name is Steve and I am a drummer and teacher based in the south-east of England. If you, or someone in your family has the drumming bug and wants to unleash the beast, or you already play and wish to access any of my services, you've come to the right place. Welcome.

I have been a professional drum tutor since I left Dartington College of Arts with a Bachelor of Arts Music Degree with Honours in 1993. Since then, I have helped literally hundreds of drummers young and not-so-young, reach their full potential on the drum kit. For some, this means playing in a band. For others, it's taking grades. Whatever a student's motivation and aspiration, I will shape a teaching programme to the individual student, making sure key skills are tamed and not overlooked. More details.

I have my own online shop offering everything the student drummer needs at discounted prices and a drum kit hire scheme so you can try before you buy with interest-free monthly instalment plans for both tuition and drum kit purchases so that learning with me is as affordable as possible. I also offer a range of supporting services for students and professional players alike: transcription, drum tuning and servicing and drum-tech and engineering duties. If it's drum-related, I would be delighted to help you.

My Services

If it's drum-related, I'd be delighted to help

More than 25 years teaching drums gives me the confidence to feel that I can help you become the best drummer you can be. And have fun along the way.

As a drumnut, you qualify for our discounted range of sticks, books and all sorts of drumming accessories to help you with your drumming adventures.

All of my students and professional customers qualify for competitive rates on short or long-term hires of a range of digital and acoustic drum kits.

Whether you need to submit a written version of your drum solo for a music course, or would like to put dots on paper to save studio time in your session, I love transcribing drum tracks into standard drum notation.

Tuning & Maintenance

Yes! Drums do need to be tuned regularly to avoid sounding like a stack of cardboard boxes falling over. Good tuning can make an average kit sound great and a decent kit sound amazing.

Technical Support

I am lucky to have delivered my Drum Tech services in the O2, Wembley Arena and The Royal Albert Hall as well as numerous festivals in the UK. I love smaller gigs too!
